From Wit’s End to New Start

A client came to us in the beginning of July at their “wit's end.” They were frustrated with their current employer and were about to quit the job with nothing else lined up. But, instead of doing that, they contacted us, and by the end of September, they had a new role lined up, doing different work, with a 33% increase in total compensation.

In our first call, we did a Deep Dive with the client and tried to figure out what they liked about each role, and what they didn’t like. This client had a track record of getting into jobs that were toxic, jumping ship, and taking another toxic job out of necessity. We tried to identify why they were unlucky in work and how to avoid that in the next role.

Then, we sent them our homework. This allowed them to do some job shopping and find 5 sales roles that they were excited about.

They also learned to BRAG, which helped them recognize the value that they bring to the workplace and how to talk about it in a way that would impress employers.

Then, I started working on their resume; transforming it from reading like an individual contributor to reading like the role they wanted to move into.

After that, Debi walked them through how to use LinkedIn effectively over the course of two sessions. They talked about how to brand themselves like the job they wanted and how to network with 1st and 2nd level connections to build an active network of folks who could support their job transition.

Then, we continued a weekly 30-minute check-in that provided accountability, offered networking advice, and brainstormed questions to ask in the interview process (so they could evaluate whether or not the environment was a healthy one.)

When they got the offer, we helped them negotiate an additional $2,000 bonus that wasn’t offered in the initial package. This bonus covered the cost of their package, not even including their increase in base salary + the additional yearly bonuses included in their package.

They got immediate ROI from their Rehab Cure Package.

At the end of the process, our client had a role that was a better fit and a pay and benefits package that paid them what they were worth.
